Five Highlights From Our Annual Report
We've compiled Annual Survey responses from all 53 3RNet organizational members and the result is our 2014-2015 Annual Report!
Here are five of our favorite highlights from the report:
1. Placements: Great Member Work Results in Improved Access
Our members made a huge difference over the last year! Thanks to their work connecting health professionals to jobs in rural and underserved communities across the country, 3RNet was able to improve access to health care for thousands of people nationwide.
We saw an increase in our placements from October 1, 2014 to September 30, 2015. In total, 3RNet members reported placing 2,403 candidates including 1,414 physicians and 989 other health care professionals.
Physician placements included 461 physicians looking for J-1 Visa Waivers. Family Medicine, Psychiatry, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Obstetrics/Gynecology, General Surgery, and Internal Medicine/Pediatrics were the top placed specialties.
Top professions for non-physician placements were Nurse Practitioners, Dentists, Physician Assistants, Registered Nurses, Social Workers, Psychologists, Pharmacists, and Marriage & Family Counselors.
2. Registrations – Candidates Continue to Trust 3RNet.org
We’re very aware that health professionals have what can seem like an endless amount of websites to search for jobs. We’ve continued to work hard for the last 20+ years to ensure that 3RNet stays a source health professionals can trust. Whether someone is looking for loan repayment, a J-1 Visa Waiver, or just a job they’ll love, we’re proud that 3RNet is a name those who care for others care about!
From October 1, 2014 to September 30, 2015, 2,861 health professionals chose to register for free on 3RNet.org. This included 1,395 physicians and 1,466 non-physician health care professionals.
Top physician specialties that registered were Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Hospitalists, OB/GYN, Psychiatry, and General Surgery.
The top professions of non-physician registrations were Nurse Practitioners, Dentists, Registered Nurses, and Physician Assistants.
3. Wide Scope of 3RNet Members
There are a variety of tasks 3RNet members can complete which fulfill our mission to help ensure access to quality healthcare for rural and underserved America. 3RNet members reported several types of technical assistance provided and marketing and educational resources used. We know how important providing unbiased information is to job seekers!
3RNet members provided the following types of technical assistance over the last year: site visits, workshops, webinars, board of directors trainings, loan repayment trainings, J-1 Visa Waiver information, annual conferences, health professional shortage area (HPSA) designations, and competitive salary research.
Members also reported using several types of marketing and educational resources including flyers, 3RNet promotional items, email blasts, residency visits, and exhibits/job fairs.
4. Collaboration is Key! 3RNet as a Catalyst of Workforce Collaboration in States
3RNet members are key collaborators when it comes to the health care workforce in each state.
3RNet members reported belonging to several ‘categories’ when asked what ‘type’ of member they are. The result? 3RNet members belong to a variety of key organizations!
3RNet members include State Offices of Rural Health, Primary Care Offices, Primary Care Associations, non-profit organizations, Area Health Education Centers, Federal agencies, and we even have one Sovereign Nation as a member!
3RNet members serve many types of health care facilities including: community health centers, critical access hospitals (CAH), National Health Service Corps (NHSC) Loan Repayment sites, rural health clinics, NHSC Scholar sites, Indian Health Service facilities, tribal health facilities, and Veterans Affairs sites.
Members also reported collaborating with several types of organizations: Primary Care Offices, Area Health Education Centers, Primary Care Associations, State Offices of Rural Health, 3RNet Associate Members, CAH Networks, Governor’s Office of Economic Development, NHSC sites, and public universities.
5. 3RNet is GROWING. Improving Technology + More Education = Expanding Our Reach.
As exciting as the results are from this annual survey, we’ve got a lot of excitement in store for this next year! We’re working hard to improve our technology and provide more education. Overall, we want to expand our reach to further our mission: to ensure access to quality healthcare for rural and underserved America.
We’re working on improvements to our website, 3RNet.org, that will include integration with Kontact Intelligence tracking system. Our site will now incorporate responsive design, meaning our platform looks the same whether you’re on a computer or mobile device.
We’re working on a webinar series directed toward facilities that will focus on topics surrounding rural and underserved recruitment and retention efforts.
We’re continuing our work with the Community Apgar Program and will release a Factors Book aimed at Community Health Centers.
We’re also working to make versions for employers of the eBooks we have already created on loan repayment, J1 Visa Waivers, and HPSAs.
