This portion of the state houses two of Wyoming’s major institutions: the University of Wyoming in Laramie and the state capitol in Cheyenne. Famous as a climber's Mecca areas like Vedawoo attract sport enthusiasts from about the globe. The University provides a number of cultural attractions including theater, dance, the arts and collegiate athletics. Cheyenne Frontier Days, the world’s largest outdoor rodeo, takes place every July in Cheyenne with evening concerts and daily activities.
