Today Nevada's Cowboy Country remains one of the last outposts of the American West. Gold, railroads and ranching have all been important parts of this regions livelihood in the past in present. Cowboy Country lives comfortably with its past and embraces the future with open arms.

Towns like Elko, Battle Mountain, Carlin, and Winnemucca all support clinics and hospitals that cater to rural patients. Health professionals may qualify for certain loan repayment programs if they choose to practice in a HPSA.

Nevada can support up to 30 slots per year for the J-1 Visa (Conrad 30 Waiver) Program. Applications are accepted throughout the year, beginning October 1 of each year. The 2015 State Physician Workforce Data Book ranks Nevada 8th in the Nation for the percentage of International Medical Graduates active in our state, reflecting our welcoming environment for diverse practice.

The program is open to both primary care physicians and specialists. Our state accepts healthcare sites in designated areas and non-designated areas (“flex slots”) as long as the sites serve an underserved population. Additional information about our program and application instructions are located at our website:[]
