Williston is located in the northwest corner of North Dakota eighteen miles from Montana and approximately 65 miles from the Canadian border. Our community rests along the banks of the mighty Missouri River where over 27,000 friendly people enjoy a quality of life with excellent medical facilities, a family-friendly environment, and low crime rates. Outdoor activities abound during all seasons in Williston including hunting, fishing, bird watching, snowmobiling, ice fishing and 11 city parks. Three golf courses are located in Williston including “The Links of North Dakota” named one of the top modern courses by Golfweek Magazine. The recently opened, Williston Area Recreation Center has every piece of fitness and sports equipment you could dream of including three tennis courts, Olympic-size pool, teaching pool, water park, four basketball courts, racquetball courts, indoor track, golf simulator, cardio machines, free weights, and more.  There is one critical-access hospital in the Williston community operated by CHI St. Alexius Health.

If outdoor activities aren’t your thing, Williston is home to two movie theaters and a public library with frequent activities for people of all ages. There are also multiple museums and a thriving community theater with performances thorough out the year. The community hosts frequent annual events include a Taste of Williston, Chokecherry Festival, Concerts in the Park, and Lemonade Day, an event to encourage youth entrepreneurs.

Williston has outstanding primary and secondary schools including public school, a K-12 Christian school, and K-6 Catholic School. Williston State College, a two-year college, offers associate degrees excelling in the areas of nursing, massage therapy, petroleum production technology, and medical coding.
