We have 53 members across the country. Our members are all unique in a variety of ways. For example, some of our members are located within their state’s federally designated State Office of Rural Health, while others are with their Primary Care Office or Primary Care Association. And, in some cases, our member is associated with all (and more!) of these organizations.
Despite the many differences you could tally between our members, there are several basic things they all have in common. One commonality you can find with any 3RNet member is they strive to be the trusted resource in their state for both job seekers and employers.
We recently had the pleasure of chatting with Joni Toews, a physician recruiter for Curry Health Network located along the coast in southern Oregon. Joni started in this position in March and from the very beginning started to rely on Oregon’s 3RNet member, Julie Hoffer, to be her trusted resource.
“I’m always asking all kinds of questions—about Oregon, about loan repayment, J1 visas,” said Joni, “And Julie always points me in the right direction. I usually ask her first if I have a question about something, and she’s always a great source.”
Curry Health Network, which has a hospital, an out-patient surgery center, several medical clinics, a psychiatric clinic, and an assisted living facility, had a relationship with Julie and her office, the Oregon Office of Rural Health, prior to when Joni started. Even though Curry Health was familiar with Julie and 3RNet, it took some time for Joni to fully understand what being a ‘trusted resource’ means to 3RNet.
“When I was hired, my first task was to make Curry Health Network’s hospital and various clinics approved sites for the Oregon state loan repayment program,” Joni said. “It was very helpful to have Julie as a resource. It took me a while to figure it out, but as I figured out the program it really helped build that relationship with Julie. Since then I’ve also been able to use the 3RNet website and see what other people are doing which is helpful.”
With Julie’s help, Joni was able to become an approved site for Oregon. Curry Health has also found success in recruiting candidates through 3RNet, most recently adding a Physician Assistant to their team through Julie’s referrals. While Joni’s busy recruiting for all of Curry Health Network’s locations, her next long-term project is to navigate the National Health Service Corps site approval process.
“I know that if I ask for help, Julie will be there to provide it, and that makes a huge difference,” said Joni.
We’re glad Joni has found a great trusted resource in our Oregon member, the trusted resource for Oregon – Julie Hoffer!
