We attend national events like the AAFP Scientific Assembly that just took place in Washington D.C. for many reasons. We even wrote a blog post about it! One of our favorite is getting to meet health professionals in all stages of training and practice who know (or are learning) about who 3RNet is and what we do. We had the chance to reconnect with one such professional, Ifedolapo Sulyman Olanrewaju. Ifedolapo, or “Dolapo” had already heard of 3RNet, but stopped by our booth anyway. Not only did he get some more great information that will help him as he searches for a job, he is the lucky recipient of the $250 gift card we gave away for this event!
Dolapo is a third year resident at the LSU Health Shreveport/Alexandria Family Medicine Residency Program in Alexandria, LA. Originally from Nigeria, Dolapo went to medical school in Ghana. After medical school, he went back to Nigeria and worked in a rural hospital, where he enjoyed the work so much he decided that family medicine and a rural practice was the route he wanted to take with his medical career.
This decision took Dolapo all the way from Africa to Louisiana, where he is completing his medical residency training.
“I chose Louisiana because it is a great place for family physicians, and I have family here, too,” Dolapo said.
While attending the American Academy for Family Physician’s (AAFP) Scientific Assembly in Washington D.C. at the end of October, Dolapo made his way to 3RNet’s booth.
“I had heard of 3RNet throughout my residency, so when I saw the booth I knew I wanted to stop in. I went to the AAFP conference looking for employment opportunities, as I am in my third year of residency, and I knew 3RNet would be a good option to explore,” Dolapo said. “I am looking for an opportunity through a J-1 waiver, and that’s what drew me to 3RNet. The people were so nice. They gave me a lot of good information on the J-1 waiver process and about some different programs that are available.”
“Having a resource like 3RNet is really important to me. The J-1 waiver process can be very overwhelming.”
Dolapo hopes to find a family physician job in central or northwest Louisiana after he completes his residency training. Ultimately, he would love to share his passion for family medicine and teach!
“I enjoy teaching, and I would love to teach one day and impact as many people as I can to share what I know and love about family medicine,” Dolapo said.
We wish him the best in his job search and ultimate goals! Good luck, Dolapo, and congratulations on winning our $250 gift card!
