3RNet is hosting its 19th Annual Conference for members, partners, and professionals interested in recruitment and retention efforts in rural and underserved areas next week in beautiful Denver, Colorado.

The conference will take place September 16-18, 2014 at the Crowne Plaza in downtown Denver, and will feature several national experts on topics related to recruiting and retaining health care professionals:

  • Dr. Bowen White will talk about “Why normal isn’t healthy” in his keynote address
  • Tom Morris, associate administrator for rural health and policy for the Health Resources Service Administration, will provide a federal update related to rural health
  • Kimberly Kleine, director of the office of health careers and bureau of health workforce with the National Health Service Corps (NHSC) will outline news and updates from NHSC
  • Russ Peal, associate director for healthcare recruitment with the Veterans Health Administration, will talk about national recruitment and retention efforts
  • A panel of medical residents including Dr. Karen Chacko, Dr. Tiffany Sturgeon, Dr. Addie Slack, and Dr. Casey Starks will inform attendees on how physicians search for jobs based on their experiences.
  • Attorney Robert D. Aronson will provide an overview and insights related to immigration issues commonly encountered with foreign-trained physicians
  • David Lee, manager of government affairs and policy for the National Rural Health Association will discuss rural health policy issues and advocacy opportunities
  • 3RNet members from Arizona, Colorado, and Missouri will share best practices related to sustaining their recruitment and retention related programs.

3RNet’s annual conference is open to anyone interested in learning more about recruitment and retention efforts specific to rural and underserved communities.
