The Federal Virginia State Loan Repayment Program (VA-SLRP) is a federal grant from the Health Resources Services Administration (HRSA), Bureau of Health Professions and is administered by the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) Office of Minority Health and Health Equity (OMHHE). VA-SLRP grants participants educational loan repayment in exchange for at least two (2) years of service in a Health Professional Shortage Area (HPSA) in Virginia.
Criteria
VA-SLRP participants must agree to serve at least two (2) years in a HPSA in Virginia as determined by HRSA.

VA-SLRP requires a community match from the HPSA in which the participant is located. An upfront award of up to $60k is granted for two (2) years of obligation and includes $30k from the VA-SLRP program and a $30k community match. Third and fourth year renewals may be granted for up to $40k. The award cannot exceed $140k.
Eligible Applicants
Health care professionals trained in the following disciplines are eligible to apply to VA-SLRP:
Primary Care Physicians, Dentists, Nurse Practitioners, Nurse Midwives, Physician Assistants, Registered Dental Hygienists, Psychiatric Nurse Specialists, Mental Health Counselors, Health Service Psychologists, Licensed Clinical Social Workers, Licensed Professional Counselors, Marriage and Family Therapists, Registered Nurses and Pharmacists.
