How long have you lived in Nebraska? 
I have lived in the State of Nebraska all of my life and I’m a fourth-generation Nebraskan.  It is a nice state where half of the population is located in just 3 of the 93 counties. There is plenty of space, nearly 400 miles east to west and 200 miles north to south.

How is 3RNET impacting Nebraska?
The ability to connect candidates with information about practice opportunities, loan repayment incentive programs and the ability to share and learn from other states is the greatest impact.

What are the best cultural events that happen in Nebraska?
There are some special events which happen every year like the Sandhill Crane Migration, Arbor Day Celebration, Lincoln Marathon, NEBRASKAland Days and the College World Series. There are many other things to do and places to go and you can check some out here.

Why should a health professional choose Nebraska over surrounding states?
It is a safe and friendly with hard working people and a great place to live and enjoy life  It has pretty much everything one would need unless mountains and oceans are your thing (you can still get to them from here whenever you want).

What loan repayment programs does Nebraska have? 
The loan repayment programs offer something for pretty much every type of primary care, mental health, dental and allied health care provider. These programs may be applied for online and we have increased state funding so we can address your student loans.  We have both state and federal shortage area and loan repayment programs to best fit your needs. We not only care about you meeting your current needs but we also want to help address your retention.

How is the J-1 Visa Waiver program utilized in Nebraska?
Typically employers sponsor about 15 J-1 physicians per year.  We prepare an annual report which is found here.  

One never really knows the impact of J-1 physicians, but during the Covid 19 pandemic the communities which had sponsored Infectious Disease physicians were really happy to have them as they provided great assistance to educating and helping manage the pandemic.

Are healthcare professionals valued in Nebraska? 
Nebraska has two university medical centers which offer great excellence in health care training and services. The University of Nebraska Medical Center has been intently involved in the Ebola and Covid 19 pandemics and providing worldwide leadership. 

Why do people travel to Nebraska?
Nebraska has a lot to offer from just getting out and getting acquainted with the great outdoors, enjoying the stars and it continues to be a state that people enjoy the friendliness of those who have chosen to live in Nebraska.

What sports teams does Nebraska have?
Nebraska relies primarily on the college Husker Football, Basketball, Volleyball and Baseball team for entertainment throughout the year.  There is nearly every sporting event one would want to attend and enjoy with family members.

What is your favorite local food?
I love all types of food and Nebraska has it all, we are pretty good at bringing people from all walks of life and countries to create an eclectic food bastion. Although Nebraska does have unique sandwich the Runza a fast food chain whose bread and butter, so to speak, is ground beef and cabbage.

What is Nebraska best known for?
Nebraska has the only unicameral legislature in the United States, meaning that it has a single-house system. It’s also nonpartisan—there are no party affiliations listed on voting ballots. Nebraska has more miles of rivers than any other state and the Ogallala Aquifer which contains the world’s largest underground water supply and what Lewis and Clark called the great American desert (The Sandhills).

What is the biggest misconception about Nebraska?
It is a tough question to ask someone who has called Nebraska home all their life. I have had the good fortune to travel throughout the U.S and to several other countries including our ancestral homeland of France. I still find many interesting and fun things to do with an incredible varied landscape and wildlife habitat.

What are the biggest industries in Nebraska?
Nebraska's modern economy is well diversified beyond corn and beef. Some of the major industries in Nebraska include military, financial services, transportation, and, of course, agriculture.

How is the weather/climate in Nebraska?
Being nearly in the middle of the United States we are able to enjoy three months of each of the four seasons, getting a great mix of each making it the best of all seasons. Not too long and not too short, just right.
