This post comes to us from our Maine 3RNet member, Greta Doe:
Recently in conversations with member Community Health Centers across the state, there has been an interesting trend in former Mainers “coming home,” looking to come back to the state they grew up in to raise families, rediscover nature, or give back to the state that gave them so much.
In only the past week I’ve received notice of two providers are returning to the state after venturing out and returning to help build a stronger primary care foundation in the state, one that is aging, but offers so much for not only those who have come and returned, but to new Mainers as well.
Maine offers 20 options for Community Health Centers, spanning the state from coastal and mountain towns to wooded and urban areas. With over 70 locations statewide, providers looking for a new setting or adventure will have no problem finding the right fit. Not only do we have variety, but 95% of our CHCs are recognized as Patient Centered Medical Homes. With the national average being only 54%, Maine is leading the charge nationally.
With the help of 3RNet, we continue to promote job openings across the state for several aspects of the medical field. A simple search of Maine’s current openings reveal openings ranging from CEO of Sacopee Valley Health Center, an hour outside of Portland (recently voted one of America’s coziest cities) to a physician of family medicine in Harrington, one of the many “Downeast” towns that allow access to Maine’s scenic coast.
More than half of Maine’s Community Health Centers are integrated with behavioral health, and more than a third with dental. Because of the rural nature of Maine, we are an ideal place for those looking for smaller settings and practices where providers can really get to know their patients on a 1:1 level.
Mountains, oceans, and four seasons can all be yours if you’re interested. Take a moment and see if you can find a position that fits what you’re looking for and embark on a new opportunity to explore one of America’s most beautiful states.
