2015 was another busy year for 3RNet! Here’s a recap of some big accomplishments we saw over the past year:
1. Another Successful Member Annual Survey
Our members successfully completed another annual survey, which gave us astounding results. In the 2014-2015 federal fiscal year, our members reported placing 1,718 health professionals, adding $1.8 billion in economic impact and 32,591 additional jobs in rural and underserved communities throughout the country. You can read more about our impact in our 2014-2015 Annual Report here.
2. Website Improvements
We made several changes and improvements to our website this year, including:
· We created a mobile registration form for candidates! Now job seekers can register on a mobile device, still by starting with www.3rnet.org.
· We added eBooks on topics important to job seekers including: Navigating the J-1 Visa Waiver Job Search, 3RNet’s Loan Repayment Guide, and an additional guide on what job seekers need to know about Health Professional Shortage Areas (HPSAs). You can find all of our eBooks here.
3. 2015 Rural Health Summit
We hosted the first-ever Rural Health Summit in conjunction with two partner organizations: the National Cooperative of Health Networks Association (NCHN) and the National Organization of State Offices of Rural Health (NOSORH). This inaugural event brought 361 attendees, 34 sponsor organizations, and 44 speakers together for four days of education, networking, and fun in Portland, Oregon! Thanks again to everyone who attended and/or supported this event!
4. National Events: ACP, AAFP National Conference, AAFP FMX, and USAFP
We attended four national events to promote the health care jobs available on our website: the ACP Internal Medicine meeting, AAFP’s National Conference for Family Medicine Residents and Medical Students, AAFP’s FMX event, and the USAFP Annual Conference. These are always great opportunities for our members to connect with job seekers, and we also always love running into folks who found their current job they love through 3RNet!
5. 3RNet Associate Membership
We’ve always had 3RNet Associate Members, but this year we ‘formalized’ what Associate Membership with 3RNet means. Traditionally, 3RNet only allows one member per state. An Associate Member is a member of 3RNet that must be recommended to the 3RNet Board by the state’s Organizational Member.
Associate Members gain additional access to 3RNet through education, promotion on our website, and member networking. You can learn more about 3RNet Associate Membership here.
6. New Board Member Julie Hoffer
Our 53 organizational members voted in one new board member: Julie Hoffer from the Oregon Office of Rural Health. With Julie joining our crew, we also thank Kara Aldridge for her years of service on our board! We’re so thankful for the dedicated members who help our organization in this important way. You can read more about our board members here.
7. 2016 – Here We Come!
Above is just a snapshot of the many things we were able to achieve in 2015. We are looking forward to what 2016 will bring to 3RNet!
