While the Prairies and Lakes area is home to miles of grassy prairies and lovely lakes, this description belies the excitement to be found in the cities that anchor this part of the state:

Dallas, Fort Worth, and the surrounding communities, also known as "The Metroplex."

Visitors to these cities can find exciting night life, outstanding cultural arts museums, symphony, and ballet.

This region can be described as an oak savannah, where patches of oak woodland are interspersed with grasslands. Cattle ranching is the major acricultural industry in the area.

This area has some Medically Underserved Areas (MUA's) and some Health Professional Shortage Areas (HPSA's).
