The 300+ miles of Oregon’s coastline are rife with history and natural beauty. Experience the meandering ribbon of Highway 101 as it winds its way up the coast through river valleys, ocean bays, lush coastal forests, and charming small town communities. Stop on your journey to visit local art galleries, do some antiquing, and pick up some fresh seafood.

Wherever you go in this region, there are numerous spots to soak up the beautiful views or get out for great recreation. There are top golf courses, deep sea or river fishing, sailing, surfing, windsurfing, hiking, mountain biking – and more! Wildlife watchers may spot gray whales on migration, sea lions, otters, elk, bald eagles, and a plethora of others.

Interested in history? Relive Lewis and Clark’s journey at Seaside and Fort Clatsop in the north. Then visit the Columbia River Maritime Museum in Astoria, which chronicles local seafaring as well as the epic Columbia River Bar crossing, where the Columbia River meets the Pacific Ocean.

Small seaside towns hold onto their history as their communities grow, resulting in small town charm with modern conveniences. Popular spots are the famously photographed profile of Haystack Rock in Cannon Beach, the Newport Seafood & Wine Festival, Short Sand beach at Oswald West State Park for surfing, the Oregon Coast Aquarium, the many lighthouses, the Kite Festivals, and the Sand Castle building competitions in Cannon Beach and Lincoln City. It’s easy to explore when coastal areas have temperate weather, with summer in the comfortable 60-70 degree range, and winter about 20 degrees cooler.

Come to visit, and see why this part of Oregon is so spectacular and welcoming!
