Antebellum homes and international museum exhibits; professional sports teams and underground blues clubs.
Jackson just isn't the state capital. Or the heart of the central region. It's a giant hub, an intersection of the stuff great Mississippi vacations are made of. Two intestates, five highways, and a National forest parkway all convene in the state's largest city and reach out to the far corners of the region.
Think of Jackson as sort of a home camp and you can easily imagine every day leading in a new direction. Every direction along a new road to incredible things you've never seen, or heard, or tasted before. From the clanging avalanche of slot machine winnings to giant mounds of spicy, boiled crawfish.
All through this hilly, pine-covered part of the state, you'll find interesting little, almost hidden places. Thirty-six hospitals. Winter high temperatures are in the mid-50s with lows in the 30s. Summer highs climb into the 90s, the lows cooling down to the 70s.
