This is the region to visit if you want to see moose! This outdoor person’s paradise includes the 200,000-acre Baxter State Park; the mile-high Mt. Katahdin; and Moosehead Lake, the largest lake in the Northeast. The gateway to this region is Bangor, one-time lumber capital of the world, home of the famed statue of Maine native Paul Bunyan, and now a current hub for shopping, dining, and cultural activities.
