Sallisaw, OK is nestled between the Kiamichi Mountains, Ouachita Mountains and the Foothills of the Ozarks on the Arkansas River and I-40. The town of about 8,800 is also the county seat for Sequoyah County. Sallisaw is rich in not only Cherokee History, but Oklahoma History. Pretty Boy Floyd grew up near Sallisaw and it is buried in the nearby town of Akins. The Community is also located near Lake Tenkiller, a 12,900 acre lake named after a prominent Cherokee Family in the area when dam was built forming the lake.
