General surgeons are in charge of the operating room, supervising other medical professionals to ensure everything is carried out effectively. Similar to other medical professionals, surgeons are responsible for examining patients, diagnosing, and recommending the best course of action. Some surgeons are also responsible for conducting research in the field.
