Alma is best known as the Blueberry Capital of Georgia. It offers residents a suburban rural mix feel where most residents own their homes. With a population of 3,433 (2020 census), Alma is the county seat of Bacon County, estimated population of 11,124 (2023 census). Host to an Annual Blueberry Festival, its' blueberry growers are at the forefront of blueberry research, finding new ways to use blueberries.
