Harlowton is located between the snow capped peaks and forests of four mountain ranges, and is located near the geographic center of Montana on US Highway 12 and US Highway 191. This central location puts "Harlo" within 2 hours of four major Montana cities that all have airports, Billings, Helena, Bozeman and Great Falls. Harlowton offers a variety of recreational activities from hunting and fishing to golfing at the local nine-hole golf course, museums and a theater that shows movies every other weekend.
There are two schools in town. Hillcrest Elementary is K-6th grade and Harlowton Jr & Sr High School houses grades 7 - 12. Both schools have small class sizes and there are lots of sports and activities for the kids to take part in.
