Community Information:

Our small town, known as the "Heart of the Santa Fe Trail," is located in southwest Kansas and is home to nearly 4,000 residents. We are home to one of the country's best-preserved frontier forts, built in 1859 to protect and provide military escort on the Santa Fe Trail. Visitors to the fort can see living history programs most summer weekends and during special events. We are also home to the first certified site in Kansas on the Santa Fe National Historic Trail. See a sod house, limestone cooling house and dugout on the grounds of the Center. Our community enjoys its public golf course, municipal swimming pool, outdoor sports facility, community center, and excellent park system. Visitors may also shop several unique antique and gift shops downtown and enjoy dining at a variety of restaurants.
