Description
The Patient Financial Advocate is responsible for the screening, enrollment, advocacy and navigation of financial programs on behalf of patients. These programs include, but are not limited to OWCHC programs as well as State, Local, and Federal programs. The Patient Financial Advocate coordinates follow-up services and serves as a resource between the clinic, patient, and community services. The Patient Financial Advocate also discusses healthcare costs and payment options with patients.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required.
Associate’s Degree in Health Administration or related field preferred.
Proficiency in both English and Spanish required.
Strong computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Word and Excel, required.
Two or more years of experience in a medical environment, with a focus on financial processes, preferred.
Strong communication, presentation, and public speaking skills required.
Demonstrated time management, organizational and record-keeping skills, with a high attention to detail and ability to work independently, required.
Demonstrated ability to implement new ideas and processes.
Demonstrated ability to relate effectively to the public, patients, coworkers, and health care providers. Ability to build rapport with diverse populations and backgrounds.
Ability and willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends.
