The Kalispel Tribe is recognized as a sovereign nation by the Federal Government, which means the Tribe has the power to create its own government and laws.  Our traditions and our language are what make the Kalispel people who we are today. The language ties us to the land, our relations, and our past.

The Tribe has had to develop innovative ways to create opportunities for Tribal members. The Tribe’s pioneering spirit, combined with sheer determination, resiliency, community cohesiveness, has allowed the Tribe to overcome many difficult circumstances.
